Follow the vehicle's maintenance schedule

Check the owner's manual for the transmission's service schedule and required fluid specification. Procedures differ by vehicle, and some units require workshop equipment to check or service. Ask a qualified repairer to confirm the procedure for yours.

Have suspected leaks checked

If you notice a leak, a warning light or a change in shifting, have the vehicle assessed. Fluid color alone does not establish the condition of a transmission. Follow your vehicle's instructions about whether it is safe to continue driving.

Stop before changing direction

Follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions when selecting drive, reverse or park. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop before changing between forward and reverse.

Stay within the vehicle's limits

Check the manufacturer's towing and loading limits for your exact vehicle configuration. Follow any additional service requirements for towing or other demanding use.

Address changes in operation

Tell a qualified repairer about new noises, delayed engagement or changes in shifting. If a replacement is needed, share the VIN, transmission type and drivetrain with our parts desk. Ask about the specific unit's condition, any recorded mileage and the written warranty terms.

Our standard 30 day warranty on engines and transmissions covers parts only. Extended warranties up to 6 months are available. Confirm the coverage for your purchase; labor is not covered.
